In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that RWE Gas Storage West, part of German energy group RWE AG, said that it has launched a market survey for a hydrogen storage facility, which is expected to be commissioned in 2027. The facility, at the Gronau-Epe site in Germany’s federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, will be able to store up to 38 million cubic meters of hydrogen, equivalent to about 135 GWh, according to the report. According to the current marketing status, 30% of the planned capacity is still available as of January 1, 2028. RWE Gas Storage West plans to market this remaining storage capacity in the first half of 2025, it added. From February 24, 2025, market participants will be able to share their storage requirements and willingness to book. The survey will run until March 28, 2025.
