In The Netherlands, Offshore Energy reported Chimbusco Pan Nation Petro-Chemical delivered “ISCC-EU certified B24 marine biofuel” to Royal Caribbean Group’s cruise ship Celebrity Solstice in Hong Kong as part of a collaboration aimed at advancing greener maritime practices.
CPN described the delivery as a “landmark” event, emphasizing its role in “strengthening Hong Kong’s role in the global transition to greener maritime practices.” This partnership aligns with Hong Kong’s “Action Plan on Green Maritime Fuel Bunkering,” announced on November 15, 2024, which outlines strategies to make the city a leading center for sustainable maritime fuel services.
The Celebrity Solstice, built in 2008, is the latest vessel to use biofuels under CPN’s expanding program. In the past year, CPN also supplied biofuel to Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation, and Swire Shipping.
The Action Plan anticipates Hong Kong providing over 60 bunkering services for green maritime fuels, such as LNG and methanol, annually by 2030, involving more than 200,000 tonnes of fuel. This delivery is part of broader efforts to reduce emissions and establish Hong Kong as a hub for sustainable shipping solutions.
