RENOVA announces start of operations at Omaezakikou biomass power plant

In Japan, Renova announced that the Omaezakikou Biomass Power Plant, in Shizuoka Prefecture, in which the company has a stake, started operation on January 29, 2025.

This power plant has a capacity of 75.0 MW and is fueled by wood pellets and palm kernel shells (PKS).

Preparations for this facility were made by Omaezakikou Biomass Energy G.K., which is jointly funded by Renova, Chubu Electric Power Co., Mitsubishi Electric Financial Solutions Corporation and Suzuyo Shoji Co.

“Going forward, we will operate the power plant while prioritizing safety and coexistence with the local community. We seek to contribute to the achievement of a decarbonized society by gaining the understanding and cooperation of local residents and other stakeholders,” Renova said.
