In Thailand, Regional Container Lines completed its first sailing using biofuel on October 19, 2025. The container vessel Piya Bhum, with a capacity of 1,707 twenty-foot equivalent units, departed Laem Chabang port for Ho Chi Minh City powered by B24-VLSFO, a blend of biofuel and very low sulfur fuel oil.
The voyage took place on RCL’s South China–Sihanoukville route, which links ports in China, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. According to the company, the B24 blend is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 19.2 percent.
