In Brazil, Novacana reports that after several months of speculation, Raízen announced the sale of the Leme mill, located in the city of the same name in São Paulo. The unit was acquired in cash by Ferrari Agroindústria and Agromen Sementes Agrícolas for approximately R$425 million, which must be paid upon closing of the transaction.
The announcement was made Monday through a statement to the market signed by Raízen’s CFO and director of investor relations, Rafael Bergman. According to him, the value is still subject to “eventual variations that are usual for businesses of this nature”.
Also according to Raízen, the mill has an installed capacity of 1.8 million tons per harvest – therefore, the transaction was equivalent to R$236.11 per ton. In addition, the transaction also involves approximately 1.5 million tons of sugarcane.
