Producers announces plans for bioethanol plant in Buenos Aires province

December 8, 2024 |

In Argentina, Bichos de Campo reported that a group of rural producers in Buenos Aires province announced their intention to set up a bioethanol plant with an installed capacity of 90,000 cubic meters per year.

The report noted that producers have already raised a total of $25 million for the initiative, which would require a total investment of $100 million. They are also considering creating a trust for small investors in General Villegas, the city where the project will be located.

“We are very excited about the project because it would generate great development at a regional level, as it would be the first bioethanol factory in the province of Buenos Aires. General Villegas does not have large industries, but with this factory that would change,” said Juan Pablo Russi, one of the promoters of the initiative.

The bioethanol plant would consume 668 tons of corn per day to generate a daily volume of 257 cubic meters of bioethanol and 501 tons of distilled spirits, the report added.

“The project depends on the increase in the mandatory blend of bioethanol with gasoline, which is currently at 12% and should be increased to 15% to add new companies to the activity,” explained Russi.
