In Belgium, Euractiv reported that Portugal’s government is moving ahead with tenders for the production of sustainable aviation fuel and has already received expressions of interest from several companies. The report noted that Portugal’s Energy Minister Maria da Graça Carvalho explained that Portugal has all the conditions to play a leading role in this field. The minister also said several companies interested in carrying out SAF production projects in Portugal have been contacted, and the government is considering launching specific tenders. Part of this support will come from the new rules approved by the Cabinet in October 2024. Specifically, this support aims to stimulate the national production of sustainable aviation fuels and sustainable aviation electricity fuels (ISAF), which will be allocated under the National Roadmap for Aviation Decarbonization (RONDA) in 2026.
