In Washington, Elkhorn Media Group reported that the Port of Walla Walla Commissioners voted unanimously to authorize Executive Director Pat Reay to execute contracts with both the Washington State Department of Commerce and SkyNRG. The report noted that the contracts are to accept a $1.5 million non-construction grant from Commerce to assist in the engineering, permitting and logistic studies for the creation of a new clean fuels facility that will produce sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel at the port’s Wallula Gap Industrial Business Park. Called Project Wigeon, SkyNRG said up to 600 jobs will be created during construction and up to 100 jobs once production begins in 2029, the report said.
