In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that the heating company of the Polish city of Gliwice, PEC-Gliwice, has officially started the construction of its Green Energy Park, combining a waste-to-energy plant with a solar thermal park.

The project includes a cogeneration unit with a capacity of 21 MWt and 4 MWe, powered by alternative fuels from non-recyclable waste, a solar-thermal farm with an area of 37,000 square meters and a heat storage with a capacity of 12,000 cubic meters, or about 700 MWh.

German waste-to-heat specialist Oschatz Power and local engineering companies Mostostal Zabrze and PRUiM are the general contractors, according to the report. The total cost for the project is about $128 million.
