In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that Poland’s national eco-fund will provide over $ 28 million in funding for the Eko Dolina project to build a municipal biogas plant.
The biogas plant, to be developed under the “design and build” formula, is expected to process 30,000 tons of bio-waste a year from the municipalities in the region. The biogas produced will be used for the cogeneration of electricity and heat. Excess electricity will be fed into the grid, while heat will power the plant’s wastewater systems, according to the report.
Damian Kleina, CEO of Eko Dolina, emphasized that signing the agreement with the environment fund will help the company modernize the plant and increase waste processing efficiency and energy production in line with the principles of the circular economy, it added.
