In China, Xinde Marine News reports on May 7 at New Yangzi Shipbuilding in China, Pacific International Lines took delivery of the Kota Oasis, its first 8,200 TEU LNG dual-fuel containership, jointly developed with SDARI and verified by Lloyd’s Register, as part of a four-vessel series with no price disclosed.
The 260-meter Kota Oasis features GTT Mark III membrane tank technology—marking the first such collaboration between a Chinese private yard and GTT—and has earned an “Ammonia-Ready” class notation from LR. It is fitted with a Wärtsilä LNG supply system, with emissions reduced by 20% for CO₂, 85% for NOₓ, and 99% for SOₓ. The vessel meets IMO Phase 3 EEDI requirements ahead of schedule.
LR China President Deng Shourong said at the naming ceremony, “Kota Oasis is an important demonstration of the shipping industry’s decarbonization progress.” He added that LR’s role involved “rigorous inspection and technical collaboration” to ensure compliance with top international standards.
The ship is equipped with the iCER methane slip control system and SCR technology on its generators, fully meeting IMO Tier III standards. It will serve both regional and long-haul routes, expanding PIL’s capabilities in LNG-fueled operations.
