Petrobras and Vale agree to a B15 deal for mining operations in Minas Gerais

In Brazil, Petrobras and Vale have signed a contract for the supply of diesel in operations of the mining company in Minas Gerais. The agreement involves the supply of diesel S10, produced by Petrobras, with the addition of the mandatory portion of biodiesel, currently at 15%. The agreement also provides for low-carbon business development opportunities, such as the possibility of buying and selling Diesel R (diesel with renewable content) and possible dealings for the supply of HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil).
Since 2023, the two companies have been collaborating on business partnerships to develop low-carbon solutions. In 2024, agreement was established for cooperation, including the tests of Diesel R5 (5% of renewable content, in addition to the mandatory 15% of biodiesel) and bunker with 24% of renewable parcel.
