In Indonesia, Pertamina New & Renewable Energy and France’s MGH Energy signed a memorandum of understanding in Jakarta during the Indonesia–France Business Forum to jointly explore low-carbon and renewable fuels, including e-methanol and sustainable aviation fuel, through feasibility studies, technology exchange, and potential investment.
The agreement was signed by Pertamina NRE CEO John Anis and MGH Energy President Jean-Michel Germa, marking a new phase of international cooperation in clean energy between the two companies. “This collaboration underscores our commitment to being a key player in the energy transition, not only in Indonesia but also on the international stage. Partnering with MGH Energy, we are optimistic about driving the development of innovative low-carbon technology solutions,” said Anis.
Germa added, “Southeast Asia is a pivotal region in our green energy expansion roadmap. The partnership with Pertamina NRE unlocks tangible opportunities to accelerate strategic projects supporting global decarbonization.”
The agreement also opens the door to joint investment in hydrogen derivatives such as ammonia and e-fuels, and the potential for offtake agreements. The initiative aligns with Indonesia’s 2060 net-zero target and the Pertamina Group’s broader decarbonization strategy.
