December 5, 2024 |

In Italy, Sea, Aeroporti di Milano, with the OLGA project, hOListic Green Airport, funded by the European Commission (Horizon 2020), has embarked on an important path that aims to reduce the environmental impact of the aviation sector by aiming to transform Milan Malpensa airport into a “hydrogen hub” in the short term for land vehicles, in the long term also for aircraft (in the OLGA project, three other European airports are involved: the Parisian airport of the United Kingdom).

In addition, the Malpensa H2 project, funded by the PNRR, and developed by Edison NEXT in collaboration with SEA near the Malpensa Cargo City area, has also started at Milan Malpensa in synergy with OLGA.

This project involves the construction of a green hydrogen filling station, powered by an electrolyzer installed on site, which will supply the heavy vehicles of the airport logistics of the Malpensa Cargo City area. The station is expected to enter service during 2026.
