Paraguay’s corn exports fall 50% in June 2024-January 2025 period

April 6, 2025 |

In Paraguay, El Nacional reported that Paraguayan corn has suffered a sharp decline in the 2024 harvest, with a 50% drop in exports between June 2024 and January 2025.

According to Capeco’s Foreign Trade Report, Paraguay exported 1,544,821 tons of corn during this period, compared to 3,066,598 tons shipped in the previous harvest. This drastic decline is primarily due to the lower production recorded this season, according to the report.

The chamber also noted that adverse weather conditions and other production factors have reduced the amount of grain available for export. Given this scenario, the Paraguayan agricultural export sector is evaluating measures to mitigate the impact of the decline in grain production and exports. These measures include market diversification and advanced technology.
