Paraguayan soybean production exceeded 11 million tons for the first time in 2024

In Paraguay, EFE reported that soybean production in Paraguay exceeded 11 million tonsfor the first time in the 2023-2024 harvest, according to the Paraguayan Chamber of Exporters and Traders of Cereals and Oilseeds (Capeco), which forecasts a lower result for 2025 due to a possible impact of drought on these crops.

In addition, the export association highlighted that Paraguay shipped some 7.9 million tons of soybeans abroad last year.

Capeco’s Foreign Trade advisor, Sonia Tomassone, explained that this South American nation “has the potential to produce 15 million tons.

Tomassone also highlighted that last year’s results were due to climatic factors, “good practices” by producers and the use of technology, “not to the expansion of the area” sown.
