April 10, 2025 |

In the UK, Fuel Cells Works reported that the ONTRAS H2 start-up network has officially begun operations near Bad Lauchstädt, with the initial filling of a 25km certified hydrogen pipeline connecting a 30MW electrolyzer to TotalEnergies’ Central Germany refinery in Leuna. ONTRAS has completed the first section of the hydrogen core network in eastern Germany with this line section and thus also the first part of the ONTRAS H2 start-up network, according to the report. Armin Willingmann, Minister for Science, Energy, Climate Protection and Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, said: “With the start of operation of the hydrogen pipeline, we are sending an important signal: the development of the hydrogen economy and the core network is not a theoretical dream of the future, but is progressing in a very concrete way. Especially in economically stormy times, it is important not to shy away from investments and to set the course for the future.”
