Oman advances seven green hydrogen projects targeting 1 million tons by 2030

December 4, 2025 |

In the UK, Fuel Cells Works reported that Oman is pressing ahead with seven green hydrogen projects aiming to deliver 1 million tons of output annually by 2030, even as two prominent ventures—one led by BP and another by a consortium including Engie and Posco—have been scrapped.

The update was delivered at the Green Hydrogen Summit Oman (GHSO) 2025 in Muscat, as the government and developers emphasized the shift from policy to execution, according to the report.

Hydrom managing director Abdulaziz al Shidhani said that “less than three years after setting the framework, the program has entered a phase of coordinated execution.” He confirmed that “seven projects, with a combined targeted output of 1 million tons of green hydrogen annually, are progressing through milestones.” The country’s first project to break ground, the ACME Duqm development, will initially produce 17,000 tons of hydrogen and 100,000 tons of ammonia by 2027, eventually scaling to 150,000 tons of hydrogen and 800,000 tons of ammonia per year.
