NXTClean Fuels selects Topsoe tech for Oregon biofuels plant

November 16, 2025 |

In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that NXTClean Fuels has decided to use Danish clean energy tech firm Topsoe’s technology for its biofuel project in Clatskanie, Oregon, to produce up to 50,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel.

Under the terms of the deal, Topsoe will provide three of its advanced technologies, along with catalysts and equipment — HydroFlex, which converts fats, oils, and greases into renewable diesel and SAF; SynCOR, for hydrogen production and carbon capture; and H2bridge, which turns processed waste into green hydrogen.

The report noted that Port Westward facility will recycle biogenic propane and off-gas to produce low-carbon hydrogen, sufficient to support the fuel production process and replace fossil fuel used for refinery heat. The project has secured State of Oregon permits and is progressing through federal permitting, the report added.
