Norway will enter FuelEU later in 2026

In Norway, the Norwegian Maritime Authority announced on Dec. 22 that it has now been decided that the FuelEU Regulation will not enter into force in Norway from January 1, 2026. Efforts were made to allow for the Regulation to apply in Norway from that date, however, it has not been possible to obtain the necessary clarifications between the EEA/EFTA states and with the EU to enable the Regulation to take effect in Norway then. Entry into force is expected later in 2026. The Norwegian Maritime Authority will provide updates on its website once a more detailed timeline has been confirmed.
