National Gas, GASCADE partner to create the UK-Germany Hydrogen Corridor

May 29, 2025 |

In the UK, National Gas announced a partnership with Germany’s national gas transmission operator GASCADE to create the UK-Germany Hydrogen Corridor. National Gas, as operator of Great Britain’s gas National Transmission System (NTS), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with GASCADE to explore the feasibility of a hydrogen pipeline between the two countries. The project will include offshore pipes which start in either Teesside in England or St Fergus in Scotland. The second section will be GASCADE’s AquaDuctus pipeline project in the North Sea – enabling offshore hydrogen to be introduced into the pipeline, before connecting to mainland Germany and the continent. The UK-Germany Hydrogen Corridor will provide transport capacity for up to 20 gigawatts of hydrogen transportation capacity and operate on a bi-directional basis.
