Mureloil contracts battery-hybrid chemical tanker from Astilleros Murueta to run on biofuels

In Spain, Mureloil and Astilleros Murueta signed a contract in Bilbao to build a new hybrid chemical tanker that will be deployed in Portuguese waters for bunkering operations. The new ship features a hybrid proposulsion system with batteries allowing for operations in electric mode for several hours. Moreover, she will be onshore power supply ready, that enables completelly clean port operations and reduces her emissions and environmental impact significantly. This newbuilding reinforces both companies’ commitment of designing advanced technological solutions for the maritime supply and transportation of liquid fuels and specifically biofuels and methanol. The ship is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2027, marking a new milestone in the collaboration between Mureloil and Astilleros Murueta. She will be classed by Bureau Veritas and flagged in Spain.
