In Spain, Air Nostrum said that Moeve is supplying sustainable aviation fuel to Air Nostrum at Melilla Airport. Specifically, Moeve has supplied 30% of SAF to all flights departing from this airport, all of them operated by Air Nostrum. In this way, the flights that took off during October and November at the Melilla airport have loaded up to 15 times more than the amount established by the European ‘ReFuelEU Aviation’ regulations for 2025 (set at at least 2%) into their tanks. The SAF is produced by Moeve at its La Rábida Energy Park, in Huelva. Marta Cencillo, Head of Sustainable Aviation at Moeve, said: “We are proud to be the first company to supply SAF in Melilla. This new milestone reinforces our commitment to the decarbonisation of the aviation sector, especially in areas that are difficult to access from the Peninsula, such as Melilla, where air connections play an essential role. This push is essential for SAF to reach the different Spanish airports. As one of the main manufacturers and suppliers of this biofuel in Spain, we already supply it permanently to the country’s main airports.”
