Mexico and China formalized health protocol for sorghum exports

In Mexico, the Mexican Government reported that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the General Directorate of Customs of the People’s Republic of China formalized the health protocol for the export of Mexican sorghum to the Asian nation.

 It is estimated that in the first year it will reach between 50,000 and 100,000 tons, with the participation of around 1,500 Mexican producers, the government said.

Mexico is the third largest producer of sorghum worldwide, with more than 4.5 million tons per year, of which 76% are grown and harvested in Tamaulipas, Guanajuato, Michoacán and Sinaloa, the government added.
