Metro Vancouver’s Global Container Terminals shifts to renewable diesel

June 9, 2025 |

In Canada, BIV reports the container terminal in Metro Vancouver’s Global Container Terminals has decided to shift fully to renewable diesel for its heavy machinery. The scale up follows a successful trial in August 2024 that reaches across heavy-duty equipment like container handlers. Light duty vehicles, however, were first run on butane and are now being converted to electric. The renewable diesel transition started in Q4 2024 and already reductions have been reduced by 64%.
