In China, the CSPC Skyline, an 84,500 DWT multipurpose vessel built by Mawei Shipbuilding for CITIC Financial Leasing, was delivered on August 28. The ship received notations from the China Classification Society for methanol fuel readiness and readiness for onboard carbon capture.
The CSPC Skyline is the largest of its kind globally by deadweight and cargo flexibility. With box-shaped holds, four deck cranes, and design features to accommodate containers, bulk cargo, and heavy lifts, it blends scale with versatility. Below deck, a high-pressure selective catalytic reduction unit, exhaust gas scrubber, and pre-swirl stator form the core of its emissions-cutting machinery.
This is the second vessel in the 84.5k series, following technical refinements based on lessons from its sister ship. CCS’s Fuzhou team applied a project-wide feedback loop during inspection, addressing design and construction hurdles in real time.
