In India, the Manifold Times newspaper reports Bapu’s Shipping Jamnagar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Deendayal Port Authority to develop a methanol bunkering facility that will support the country’s first bio-methanol bunker barge. The ports of Shanghai, Ulsan, Singapore, and Rotterdam are already developing methanol bunkering facilities, pushing India to join the race to establish necessary methanol infrastructure to support greener shipping. Ship and Bunker reports there are only 50 methanol-fueled vessels in the world at that moment but DNV expects that to jump by another 310 by 2028.
