In India, BioEnergy Times reported that MEDAS EnggDesign has been awarded a significant contract by NSL Sugars, one of India’s top ten sugar producers.
The project involves NSL Sugars’ Jai Mahesh Unit, located in Mazalgaon, District Beed, Maharashtra. Under this contract, MEDAS will provide technology, engineering expertise, and equipment for a modern distillery plant with a production capacity of 500,000 liters per day. The facility is designed to operate on both sugarcane syrup and grains as feedstocks.
Aligned with the Government of India’s National Biofuel Policy, the plant will produce fuel-grade ethanol using MEDAS’s advanced process design. The distillery will feature a low-pressure distillation system that enhances power generation and an energy-efficient evaporation unit that recycles vapors from the sugar and drying processes, according to the report.
