In India, MEDAS EnggDesign Pvt. Ltd. (MEDAS), a leading EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company specializing in distillery, brewery, and food processing solutions, has been awarded a significant contract by NSL Sugars Ltd., one of India’s top ten sugar producers.
The contract pertains to NSL Sugars’ Jay Mahesh Unit, located in Mazalgaon, District Beed, Maharashtra, where MEDAS will serve as the technology, engineering, and equipment partner for their state-of-the-art distillery project. The plant capacity is 500,000 liters per day based on sugarcane syrup and grains.
The new facility, based on MEDAS’s cutting-edge design, will operate on multiple feedstocks including sugarcane syrup and grains, to produce fuel-grade ethanol as part of the Government of India’s National Biofuel Policy. The distillery will utilize low-pressure distillation system, resulting in higher power generation, along with an energy-efficient evaporation system that uses sugar and dryer vapors for process. This integrated approach ensures minimal energy consumption and maximum output.
