Mato Grosso Cooperative announces $150 million corn ethanol plant

In Brazil, InfoMoney reported that Coopercotton Cooperativa Agrícola announced this a project to build a corn ethanol plant in the municipality of Itiquira, in the south of Mato Grosso region.

The cooperative, formed by family groups of producers, with over 20 years of existence, is in the phase of attracting investors and has already completed a feasibility study, according to the report.

With investments of $150 million, the plant should have the capacity to process 1,500 tons of corn per day, for the production of ethanol and corn bran (DDG), a raw material for animal feed, the report added.

The region where the industrial unit will be implemented currently has around 200 thousand hectares of corn cultivation in its surroundings.

Construction of the plant is expected to begin by the end of 2025, with the industrial complex being completed in 24 months, Coopercotton said.

Mato Grosso region is the largest grain producer in Brazil.
