In Denmark, the Financial Times reports the CEO of Maersk hopes that by focusing on ethanol as a way to decarbonize shipping that in turn stands to benefit US and Brazilian farmers, versus green methanol where China would be the biggest winner, climate sceptics such as US President Trump might be swayed to support green shipping fuels. Maersk began trialing ethanol as shipping fuel in October around the time the US blocked decarbonization efforts for shipping.
