In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST said that it will receive around $ 2.58 million in funding from Lower Saxony to support research in the area of hydrogen at the Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter. The report noted that the research will cover the entire value chain, including the establishment of hydrogen supply networks, the decarbonization of industry, the flexible production of components for fuel cells and electrolyzers, and fuel cell mobility. “One particular focus of the planned work is on the further development of innovative hydrogen technologies and their production processes as well as on the elaboration of digital simulation models for holistic value chains in the hydrogen economy of the future,” Sabrina Zellmer, deputy director of the Institute and spokesperson for the joint project, noted. The hydrogen research hub is managed by Hydrogen Campus Salzgitter eV, a non-profit association formed by key stakeholders from science, industry, and politics, the report added.
