Living Ink raises $3 million to diversify feedstocks for biobased pigments

In New York, Sourcing Journal reported that Living Ink announced the closing of a $3 million priced funding round with investors. The cash injection will be used to scale the materials company’s environmentally sustainable solutions across diverse industries and accelerate the development and integration of alternative feedstocks.

The report noted that Living Ink specializes in transforming biomass waste into renewable, carbon-negative colorants. The company’s flagship product, Algae Black pigment, offers a sustainable, drop-in alternative to fossil fuel-derived carbon black. 

This funding will enable Living Ink to scale Algae Black and will support the company’s strategic expansion into new starting biomass feedstocks within their current process. Living Ink plans to integrate diverse biomass waste inputs from sectors including food and beverage, precision fermentation, anaerobic digestion and algae cultivation and disposal, the report added.
