In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that French green hydrogen producer Lhyfe confirmed it has abandoned plans for a green hydrogen production project in France, after failing to secure state funding due to French government budget constraints.
“Due to French government budget constraints, not all projects selected under the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) framework were able to receive the planned support,” a spokesperson for the company said, adding that “as this support was a prerequisite for the Fonderies du Poitou project’s financial viability, the project has now been suspended.”
Lhyfe, along with French solar energy producer TSE, announced plans to create a green energy hub and reindustrialize the former Fonderies du Poitou industrial site, with support from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, back in 2023.
