In Latvia, Unified Gas Transmission and Storage System Operator Conexus Baltic Grid AS has signed a contract with Intra-GT SIA for the design and construction of the biomethane injection point “Džūkste”. The total financing of the project, with the EU funds, exceeds EUR 1.5 million.
The renewable gas injection pint will be located in Pienava, Džūkste parish, Tukums municipality, with a capacity of up to 2500 m3 /h.
In addition, within the framework of the previously concluded contract with “Intra-GT” SIA, the production of technological equipment for the biomethane injection point, including the gas metering and quality control unit, is in progress. It is planned that by mid-December the leak-tightness and plant checks of the biomethane feed-in point technology will be completed so that it can be installed on site in spring 2025 and all necessary installations with associated infrastructure can be carried out. The company will also procure and install information technology solutions for the management of the biomethane feed-in point.
Once the facility is operational, biomethane producers will be able to deliver and inject the biomethane they produce into the gas transmission system. The biomethane injection point will operate in an automated mode, providing pressure relief, gas preheating, injection into the pipeline system, as well as metering and gas quality control.
