In Colombia, Aviacionline reported that the Latin American region, thanks to its wealth of natural resources and raw materials, is positioned to be a leader in SAF production, according to Pedro de la Fuente, Senior Manager of External Affairs and Sustainability for the Americas at the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The executive noted that countries like Brazil and Colombia are already moving forward with concrete projects. De la Fuente highlighted the region’s potential to become a center for sustainable fuel production. “In the region, countries like Brazil are obviously at the forefront, given the country’s production capacity,” he stated. He explained that there are more than fifteen projects to produce SAF in Latin America currently in the economic feasibility study phase.
