In Brazil, Agrolink reported that Brazil’s National Supply Company (Conab) indicated that corn cultivation is still developing, but faces challenges in the filling and flowering phases. The scenario varies according to the location. In the south of Maranhão, crops are developing normally, while in other areas planting is almost complete, but weather conditions compromise the initial development of the plants.
In Piauí, planting that began in December faced difficulties due to the lack of rain. Regions such as Alto Médio Canindé, Picos, Pio IX, Médio Parnaíba, Campo Maior, Teresina and Valença suffered from the lack of precipitation, which hindered crop growth, the report stated.
Bahia has completed corn planting and has already started harvesting in the west of the state, where regular rainfall favored crop development. However, production was below the previous harvest, especially in the Center-North and South, due to climate variations, the report added.
