In Sweden, Kraftringen will invest SEK 2.4 billion in a new CHP plant in Örtofta outside Eslöv, after a unanimous board voted in favor. It will be the largest investment in energy production in Skåne in the last 10 years and will significantly strengthen the region’s energy security. The plant, which is built next to the existing CHP plant, is commissioned in 2028.
The investment decision comes after several years of investigation that followed the Board’s direction decision 2022 to invest in new cogeneration in Skåne. The investment of 2.4 billion is funded by Kraftringen, and is built next to existing work in Örtofta without taking up new land. The new CHP plant is part of a larger investment we are making to develop a robust and reliable energy system. In parallel with new production, there is also expansion of infrastructure for more recycled residual heat and digital development for optimization and increased flexibility
