Kansas’ first CCS project gets tentative approval

In Kansas, the Carbon Herald reports that the Environmental Protection Agency has given a tentative green light to Purefield Ingredients that would allow it to to inject up to 1.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide 3,500 feet underground into a Class VI well over the next dozen years. If the permit is approved, it would be the first such CCS project in Kansas, allowing the company to permanently store emissions from its nearby ethanol facility.
