In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that Japanese renewable power producer Renova announced today that the 49.9-MW Karatsu Biomass Power Plant is now planned to enter commercial operation in March 2025.
Originally, the plant was set to come online this December. The reason behind the move is the fact that Renova needs additional time for the required adjustments to the boiler and turbine to ensure stable long-term operation, according to the report.
According to the company’s website, the biomass-fired plant will use wood pellets and palm kernel shells (PKS) as a fuel source. Its annual output is estimated at about 350,000 MWh, or enough to meet the consumption of approximately 110,000 households each year, the report added.
