Irish bioeconomy analytics opens lab in Iowa to serve US market

In Iowa, Celignis USA Corporation, the U.S. franchise of bioeconomy analytics and bioprocess development leader Celignis, recently announced the launch of commercial operations at its 10,000 sq. ft. laboratory in Waterloo, Iowa.

Celignis USA will offer the full Celignis portfolio of analytical and bioprocess development services directly to U.S.-based clients. These are based on the methodologies and technologies developed over a decade by Celignis in Ireland. Such services include over 170 standardized analysis packages covering approximately 400 analytes, from lignocellulosic composition and biofuel potential to seaweed and biochar characterization. The U.S. lab will also support clients in sectors such as bioenergy, bioproducts, and renewable natural gas (RNG), with a strong emphasis on reliable data and scientific expertise to advance bioeconomy innovation.
One major driver for establishing a U.S. base was the rapid expansion of the RNG sector, with American biogas producers seeking local access to Celignis’s specialized analytical and biological expertise. By opening in Iowa, Celignis USA Corporation removes logistical barriers of overseas shipments and fosters closer collaborations with U.S. clients.
