In Indonesia, Tempo reports that the government plans to grow cassava on 1 million hectares of land around the country to use as feedstock for ethanol production that will in turn allow it to blend 10% ethanol into gasoline. In addition to the cassava acreage, another 400,000 hectares of sugarcane is expected to be grown for ethanol production as well. The move is in line with the government’s energy independence drive which included B40 currently and B50 from next year.
