In India, pv Magazine reported that India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is seeking proposals from government organizations to create and upgrade testing infrastructure for various components, technologies, and processes used across the green hydrogen value chain. The selected projects will be funded up to 100% of the capital cost for equipment, installation, and commissioning of the equipment, according to the report.

This initiative aims to support development of testing infrastructure for the various components, technologies and processes used in the production, storage, transport, and utilization of green hydrogen and its derivatives, the report added.

Proposal can be submitted by any government organizations (testing agencies, R&D institutes, academic institutions, public-sector units, autonomous bodies, etc) intending to set up or upgrade their existing hydrogen testing or certification facility in India.. The government partner may be funded up to 100% of the capital cost for equipment, installation, and commissioning of the equipment, while the private partner is expected to contribute financially and technically, including infrastructure and in-kind support.

The first round of proposals under this scheme were invited during August 2024. Based on the detailed scrutiny and approval of the competent authority, five proposals have been supported under the Scheme as part of the first round, the report added.
