In India, Solar Quarter reported that India’s Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), has issued the Second Call for Proposals under the Research and Development Scheme of the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM).
This initiative, announced in July 2025, aims to expand India’s R&D efforts to support indigenous technology development for the affordable, safe, efficient, and scalable deployment of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives across the country.
The NGHM, launched on January 4, 2023, is a key part of India’s strategy to position itself as a global hub for Green Hydrogen production, utilization, and export, promoting energy self-reliance and a low-carbon economy, according to the report.
The R&D Scheme became operational on March 15, 2024, following the release of an R&D Roadmap on October 7, 2023.
Applicants are expected to clearly define the starting and target TRLs of their projects, focusing on scalability, commercialization potential, and sustainability aspects. All proposals must be submitted online through the MNRE research portal using the prescribed format. The submission window opened on July 14, 2025, and will remain open until August 21, 2025.
