In India, the Economic Times newspaper reports the Indian Sugar Mills Association wants the government to restore the 50/50 split of ethanol supplies to Oil Marketing Companies to ensure sugarcane-based ethanol has the same market access as grain-based ethanol. With low sugar prices plaguing mills, ISMA wants to ensure stability for mills that will in turn allow them to pay farmers on time. Sugar stocks are stable with plenty on hand to get to when mills start crushing again the third week of October ahead of what is expected to be a bumper crop.
