In India, Indian Infrastructure reported that Indian Oil’s Panipat refinery has become India’s first facility certified to produce sustainable aviation fuel, through the conversion of used cooking oil into jet-grade fuel.
The Swiss-based Cotecna Inspection Group, through its Indian arm Cotecna Inspection India Private Limited, granted the certification, according to the report.
The move aligns with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) carbon offsetting and reduction scheme for international aviation (CORSIA) goals. India targets 1% SAF blending in all international flights by 2027, increasing to 2% thereafter.
