October 30, 2025 |

In India, India Shipping News reports the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways launched India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai with new deals centered on green fuels and digital port systems. A key agreement with the Netherlands will create a green and digital sea corridor linking Indian ports to Rotterdam, supporting the use of hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol in shipping.

The event drew delegations from over ten countries and produced memorandums worth ₹55,000 crore, or about USD 6.2 billion. Private-sector deals included partnerships with Adani Ports, JSW Infrastructure, Goa Shipyard, Abu Dhabi Ports, and Echandia Marine. Research pacts and financing agreements added further depth, with Dutch and Indian institutions signing on to collaborate on smart ports and clean fuel deployment.

Ministers described the day as a turning point in India’s port strategy, tying trade growth to decarbonization and digital integration. The deals reflect a shift from pilot projects to infrastructure-scale planning, with green fuels no longer treated as distant possibilities but as logistics problems ready to be solved.
