Illinois farmers record positive soybean production last year

In Illinois, WFIG Radio reported that The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service reported that Illinois had a positive year for soybean production in 2024. 

The report noted that farmers in the state produced 688 million bushels of soybean, exceeding the previous record of 667 million bushels set in 2018. 

The average yield increased to 64 bushels per acre, up from 63 bushels per acre in 2023. Additionally, the harvested area rose to 10.75 million acres from 10.3 million acres the previous year, the report added.
