ICAR says government aiming for E30 by 2030

In India, the Indian Express newspaper reports the ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research says the government plans to boost ethanol blending to 30% by 2030. In order for the sector to achieve the increase of up to 70 million metric tons by then, it requires an annual increase of 8%. Toe achieve that growth requires introduction of hybrid varieties and mechanization, it said. The government’s ethanol blending goals have run up against feedstock supply challenges when relying solely on sugarcane, which has prompted to the expansion into grains.
