In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Energy News reported that Korean automotive company Hyundai, has partnered with Juma Al Majid Company, its UAE distributor, to introduce two hydrogen fuel cell buses in Abu Dhabi.
The program’s goal is to identify the best technologies in hydrogen and electric power for public transport. It is designed to benefit residents, tourists, and daily commuters in the UAE’s capital by working closely with international government bodies and bus manufacturers, according to the report.
The program also focuses on developing local skills in the field. This involves specialized training and opportunities for practical learning abroad, targeting enhancements in the knowledge of hydrogen and electric buses, it added.
The Abu Dhabi Mobility Green Bus Program includes both electric and hydrogen buses for city and regional routes. Hyundai’s models, such as the Elec City FC and Universe FC, will operate until 2025 on designated routes, including City Route 65 and Regional Route 160.
